Hello, I was wondering if anyone has a really good recipe for the vinegar based BBQ sauce they use in Eastern North Carolina? I have my pork butt down and now I need a sauce for it. Popajack
here is a recipes from that region, I do not know who the orginator of the recipe is.
1 cup cider vinegar 1 tablespoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 1 tablespoon brown sugar
Directions 1 In a small bowl, combine the vinegar, salt, cayenne pepper, crushed red pepper flakes and brown sugar. Mix well and allow ingredients to mesh for about 4 to 8 hours before using. Jim
Popajack Cut down on the cayenne and add black pepper, you will find that you could also use white pepper also. This a basic recipe and changes can be made to your liking. Jim
