I am looking to give an electric smoker for a gift. I need it big enough that he can put a packer brikset on the unit. Can someone please give me some guidance on this. Thank you for your help.

Wow, that would be a real nice present! I would say that the SM025 would be a good model (the smallest you should go)for a large packer brisket. I do a few a year and I have fit a large 20 pounder in there. The racks are 14 x 18. The only thing I can't do is hang long sausages in it, but I have done shorter ones. The original model the smallest one they sell, is 14 x 14 racks and I think that would be too small.

I'm with Vicki. The 025 would be my level entry choice. Of course, the larger units offer more capacity, bells & whistles but the 025 is a great unit for the price.

You can put a packer in any of the units really. If they touch the side on the smaller ones it's okay because they will shrink.
But also think capacity. I'll be they will not just do a brisket, but they may want to do more. And of course if you buy them one, tell them to come by the forum, we'll help get them going.

If you get the 025 and they want a bigger one they could "upgrade" within 30 days.
