I just purchased a Maverick ET-7. Seems like it works ok once I figured out how to program. My question is, the leads are I'd say about ~2 ft for the probes. I was hoping that I can place on top of my cs-025 and run them down through the air vent? It's either that of have the unit door close on the leads. I don't want to block up the vent or damage the leads. What do most of you do ?

That's exactly how I've been using my ET73 for over a year without any problems at all (down through the vent hole). I've had as many as 4 probes routed through the vent at one time and didn't notice any issues with airflow. The braided Maverick cables seem to handle the heat better than my cheaper Taylor's plastic coated cable.
I have an SM040 and the top left gets a little warmer than the rest so I keep the transmitters towards the back right, just to be safe ya know!
I gotta say I love the cooker temp probe. I'm finding that my Cookshack runs about 10 degrees warmer than the digital display regardless of weather conditions. Happy cookin' dba!
