Today I was doing eight racks of ribs and a couple pans of bean son my FEC100 and about one hour into the cook the display went blank and the cooker shut down. Checked all of the obvious (cord, outlet, etc.). Dropped the front of the controller and didn't see anything obvious. I'm guessing the control board, but I'm not sure how to verify that. I'm a little disappointed that a smoker that has had less than 25 cooks on it quit on me mid-cook, but stuff happens I guess. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have an IQ5 bowhunr so not sure if the IQ4 is the same. On the back of the pellet hopper is a black looking cap. This screws off and there is a reset button I can push to reset the FEC. I've had mine trip on occasion when the temp is set to increase and the temp spikes. You didn't mention this so maybe this is it. Hope this helps.
Well damn......thanks Dakota that was it. I've looked at that bunches of times and had no idea that cap unscrewed. Kind of an odd place to put it IMO, but I'm just happy that's all it was. Thanks again for your reply!! Happy 4th!!
Glad that was it. I've only had it happen one or two times since I've had my FEC. I didn't put that cap back on as tight as mine was initially on either!
No kidding!! I had to use channel locks to remove it and was afraid I was going to break it. Mine is also on "finger tight" now. Thanks again!
