No way to do it without hacking the firmware of the controller.
I do use a stoker to monitor the pit temps and meat temps.
With its ability to do two stage cooking on the IQ4 there really is no reason to need to adjust via a stoker when you can monitor it.
I honestly thought like you that I would want to control the temperature, but to be able to monitor and graph the temps to fine tune your cooking process is more than enough for what I need.
I actually don't even log anything anymore and I don't probe my meat until when I wrap at contests. I use my stoker to monitor pit temperature during the night for peace of mind at contests.
I use BBQ Monitor on my Ipad and with it plugged into the charger the screen stays up all night and I roll over and look at like I would an alarm clock ad go back to sleep unless a low temp alarm goes off and lets me know something has went wrong, (Power Failure).
