Ok seems patients is not a Bertie of mine lol. Seems I had it set to high to start with. Note to self, bring to 170-180 then up to 225. Then when shutting down allow to burn out before turning off completely. Learning curve is relative. But working it. Lol. Today we cook!
One or both firepots?

Set it at any temp, but 225 is not high. What was your setting when you set it hot.

What I do is when I start it, I turn it on, set all the temps and hit start. Take a small handful of pellets and put some in each pot.

That gives the ignitor plenty of pellets to start.

If you don't have an ignitor problem, then it's just that the pellets were smothering it before it started OR you had a fan problem.
This is an 08 FEC 500. The ignighter is not working. So I take about a 1/2 cup of pellets and stater gel to light. Giving it about 10 min or so before I set temp. Unit is on so the big fan is blowing. What is the average time to get to temp? I have yet to get it up with in an hour.
Well lets see. Mind you I bought this unit used, sitting outside in a back yard. Lol. That being said........ It was missing the down spout to start with. Manufactured that, then after replacing the fire pot fans, I finally realized that the transformer from 110 to 12v was bad. I finally spent the day with (Bertha, her name for now). Trouble shooting...... Needless to say the staff at Cookshack were very cool and she seems ready to roll. I will give her a try Friday to see what we can do with her. Thanks for all the help form the forum. She is a beauty whe she starts and runs like she should. Lets get cooking! Eat Well America!
