Yes that is a good deal. I got mine on eBay, must have been a 2004 or older, for $250.00 plus $80.00 in shipping. It needed shelves so that was another $80.00. BUT wow they are great little smokers. Good for a pork butt, small brisket and ribs (you have to trim some of the rack off but so what). Go get it, and stop at Home Depot for a bag of hickory. Run, don't walk.
Donna's family developed them as the best brisket[they had not heard of pork shoulders in OK back then ] cooker around over a half century ago,and they are still great.
Don't clean it too much !! Clean the shelves and the bottom. Unless it's got algae growing all over the inside that dark stuff on the walls is a patina, like you develop on a cast iron skillet. Always foil the top of the wood box and the bottom of the smoker, makes clean up breeze... So, pork butt or brisket ?? Check Smokin's 101s.
Indeed it was, I gave this setup with table to my son in law for an early Birthday. First intro to smoking. He's getting pretty good with the ribs. Hopefully on day he will obtain a PG500. Thanks for all the input. Doug
