Grease fire in FEPG

Friday evening I was cooking a batch of moink balls on the second shelf above the direct area and looked over and the smoke was pouring out of the FEPG. Lifted the lid and darned if I didn't have a grease fire with flames reaching above the second shelf. I grabbed some gloves and moved the moinks and within a minute or so the fire had gone out. Ruined 4 moinks and scorched my frogmat, otherwise no damage done.

Considering the amount of fat in bacon I'm not surprised. Good thing you were attentive and nipped it in the bud.

Where then on the shelf to the left, above the fire.

Yup, that can be a fire problem. Just like cooking over coals or anything. Direct heat and grease.

Glad it didn't ruin them.
