Do you have a fire and then 1) pellets aren't feeding or 2) pellets are dumping and putting the fire out?

Are you using a small hand full of pellets to start the smoker?

Then the fire isn't really lit.

I'd go with cal's question.

1. Clean out the pot
2. Put a handful of pellets into the pot
3. Start the system
4. Watch the pot and make sure the fire REALLY starts.

You didn't say what temp, but start lower, around 200 and see what happens.

I started it @224/on the rib preset.when it got up to temp I opened the door & the fire was going good. about 30 minutes later it goes out.I started with a handfull of pellets & it happened , then i took the pellets out of the fire pot & it also happened.you think I need to start it lower? could it be a bad probe?

Are your pellets dry?

they're new pellets that came with the cooker. I'm restating it with a empty pot @ 180 to see what that does

How level is the FEC? I had this happen twice before someone told me the FEC needs to be really level to work well.

I have had to replace the muffin fan on the bottom. Confirm that it is blowing air into the firepot.

thanks for all the replies & suggestions! it seems as though the mother board was bad . i replaced it last nite & everything is going well so far
