Although I'm a newbie with the FEPG myself, I recommend shutting it off, unplugging the unit, clean out the burn pot, and start over. Once you start, reset the LHT and HHT settings to 10 and 100 respectively, or something different from factory like 10/30.

I had an experience somewhat similar to yours on my second burn, but after I did what I recommended above, I haven't had another problem. Good luck.
I'm going to repeat an explanation Fast Eddy gave on another thread about LHT and HHT settings and how to adjust them:

Here is how it works. There is a setting called the LHT that is like a pilot light to keep thing burning. It has a 15 second cycle. The setting is set the auger on 1 second (10) which stands for 1.0 seconds. Then the auger is off for 14 seconds. The way you get to this setting is hold the up and down temp arrows in together for 5 seconds and it will show up on the digital readout. The HHT setting is shipped at pre set 10 seconds(100) stands for 10.0 seconds. This is the on cycle when the thermostat needs heat. Feeds fuel for 10 seconds on and the off 5 seconds. It also is a thought of as a 15 second cycle. You hold the up and down arrow in together for 10 seconds and it come up on the digital read out. You can lower it down to 5 (.5 seconds on and 14.5 seconds off) or go up to 150 and the only time the auger will turn off is when the unit hit 600 degrees. The closer you bring down the HHT to the LHT setting the less temp swing is in the unit. What happens is less fuel and a longer time is allowed for the pellets to catch fire without over filling the pot with lots of BTU.

It might be best when you make your setting changes to use LHT 10 and HHT 30, since you're getting too many pellets in the pot. If that works, you can re-adjust your settings later if you wish.

It "sounds" like you're not getting a fire.

Are you?

If the ignitor doesn't light the pellets then it will overfill because there is no burn.

IF it's an issue of a fire, but the pellets drop too fast and snuff it out.

Try the other steps and let us know exactly which issue you think it might be.

Thanks for your help Papasmurth & Smokin Okie. I received a call Sunday from Fast Eddy & he helped me trouble shoot my problem. The fan wire came loose during shipping. I ran the grill at 400 for an hour and later Sunday night I cooked 4 steaks and asparagus. The grill runs great.
