I have my unit & want to do a season burn before i use it Fri night. Can someone please give me a quick lesson. How much should i fill the hopper & how long do i leave it on smoke before i make the change to a heat setting. I want to put a 14-15lb butt Fri night to be ready sometime Sat, then put 3 racks of ribs in Sat so they finish about the same time.I did not get any instuctions with it.

Have had mine for six weeks so I guess I am an expert now. You need to get the pellets to the heating unit first. Turn on and leave on smoke for five minutes or so. Turn off and leave off for ten minutes or so. Then turn up to temp and you will see ignition in a few minutes. I didn't really season mine, I just started cooking. I would probably set the therm to 275 and let it go for a couple of hours to season.
Don't forget to line the entire bottom with foil, the grease pan and I also put some foil on the baffle above the auger. I also line the grease pan with foil. Will make cleanup much quicker.
