I feel like I must be breaking some kind of BBQ Law.
I live in Northern IL, and today is 50F with a cold spitty rain and high winds.
I took some frozen Spare Ribs out at 7 am, defrosted them 3/4 of the way in the microwave, and let them defrost the rest on thir own.
This took 1 min of my time.
I didn't take off the membrane, or trim the ribs down to St. Louis and tips, I just set the temp at 225F shook on some rub, and threw them in. *0n Edit* at 11:30 am.
This took 1 min of my time.
I didn't, foil, turn or baste.
At 5:30 I will take them out sauce and cut up.
Maybe 8 more minutes of my time.
So with only a 10 min investment, in some really crappy weather, I will have some great ribs.
It just seems like a BBQ crime.
I'll post a picture, and let you know if skipping all my ususal steps (removing menbrane, trimming, foiling) makes any difference.
It's now a serious downpour, glad I don't have to add any charcoal.
Here were the results at 5:30
These ribs were a little less tender than foiling, but I just may need to add 1/2 hour to make up for the foil. The membrane and triming didn't seem to make any difference, and I probably won't do either again.
On a side note, the Charcoal BBQ Gods did take at least a small measure of revenge. When I went out to pick up the ribs, I stepped in a puddle, and got my left slipper all wet. I'm sure it was their doing.
