During the initial "seasoning" I had the temp set to 300*, but the built in probe read 425* - 475* most of the time??

Is this normal? Will the temps be more accurate as the cooker is used more?

Later today I am going to cook some brats and will us my probes to check the temsp as well.

Anyone else notice this?

When you say "built in probe" do you mean the thermostat that runs from the pellet feeder power unit thru the left side of the cooker?

If so, the LED readout should stay at or near 300 when you set it at 300. It might fluctuate 5 or 6 degrees up or down, but I think that's normal. No WAY should it fluctuate to the extent you've experienced.

Use another thermomemter and double check your temperatures. If your personal thermometer confirms that your unit is WAY off on its temperatures, call CS. If your thermometer says that your temp is 300 and you've set it for 300, but your LED readout says something else, Call CS.
The auger never stopped and was the reason for the high temps. The temps were not the worst of it, with those high temps and non stop feeding came black soot and lot's of it.

Took me over an hour to get it cleaned back to normal. Ed, you owe me 3 rags and 2 rolls of paper towels. 5 bags of pellets should do Smiler
The fix is really quit simple. Follow the wires back from the combustion fan to the wiring bundle connector (cut the bundle tie). If I remember correctly, the connector will have an orange mark on it. Switch the red and orange connections. Watch when you start the cooker for the first time. If the combustion fan cuts off as it reaches the set temp, it is wired wrong. This will keep you from over-temping the cooker.
