for my FE100 racks----something not too deep, that doesn't take up a lot of room but still holds 4 racks for soaking and cleaning them. The rascals don't fit in my sink and I'm tired of laying them on the driveway and hosing them.

How and in what do you guys soak/clean your racks?

And when you do, do you just get the food off or do you try to remove the bronzy smoke color, too? (I did, originally, but have lost interest in that kind of cleaning of late. Just wondered if the bronzing has any affect on the grates---sticking-wise.)

KDM...I use a plastic bus tub from my local restaurant suppy store. The inside dimensions are 15x19 which is perfect for my 14x14 grills. I don't know the demensions on the FE100 racks but bus tubs come in all sizes. I use a 1/4 cup of "oil Eater Cleanser Degreaser" from Costco, cover the racks with hot water & soak overnight or longer, and the racks come out like brand new with just a light rub with a sponge while rinsing. I'd rather be beat up than have to clean oven racks but this stuff even cleans racks that have been sitting out for a couple of days and have gotten really crispy. It's biodegradable, recommended for BBQ racks, among other things, and it will clean up the stains in your driveway from your previous rack cleaning efforts.

CB, the FE100 racks are 17 X 23 if I remember correctly. I'll give my restaurant supply house a try for one of those bus tubs. And I go to Costco all the time. Is the "oil Eater Cleanser Degreaser" in the household cleaners aisle or the automotive aisle? That stuff sounds great.

Duck, I've also got Simple Green in the house. I've been to the Depot but can't find what I'm looking for with the single exception of what looks to be an under-the-bed thingy with wheels. Looks like it's for storing wrapping paper or some such thing. Is that what you're talking about? The floor of the container isn't exactly flat, but has a couple of "fenders" inside to make room for the wheels.

Thanks for these suggestions, guys.
KDM...Oil Eater is generally in the household area but, you know Costco, they intentionally move products around to keep you in the warehouse longer with the hope that you will buy something else while you're looking. Often there is an oil eater "demo" table where you can get a free sample to try. I used to use Simple Green but found that Oil Eater is like Simple Green with "hormones". By the way, I paid a little more attention today when I reloaded my bus tub and it looks like I use more like a 1/2 cup. With a bus tub as large as you will be using you'll probably need a cup. I generally soak three racks at a time but have had no problem with four plus a seafood rack.
