Looking for ideas here.

I was talking to Stuart about installing my fec inside my step van and he suggested an idea I had been assigning about earlier on one of the forums.

I am installing an inline duct fan into the exhaust but the only one I have found (that fits the 5" duct) is rated for a max 140 degrees.

I am looking for any suggestions on a higher heat solution that might work.

The intention is to use it anytime I open the door (or a few seconds before) to help exhaust the smoke out of the truck

Thanks for any advice I hope this post was clear.

I am in the design phase of a new trailer.
Need to mount a pair of FEC's in an enclosed area seperate from the kitchen and living area.
The exhaust duct will be about 4-5 feet with a rain cap.
I have run 4 foot vertical pipe in the past with no problems.

Any help on this duct fan thing??
Think I will need one?
Would it help exhaust smoke when opening the door? Easy to switch and control speed.

Thanks in Advance

TIM

ps--found many duct fans on line. Very reasonably priced.
I'm not familiar with the FEC operation, but I don't see that an inline exhaust fan will adequately compensate for the smoke that is released when opening the door. I would think the only effectlive way to adequately exhaust smoke when opening the smoker door would be via exhaust fans located over the smoker and perhaps within an exhaust hood configuration. To some extent it would depend on health inpsector requirements in your area for enclosed units located in mobile food service vehicles. Of course if you're not concerned about any health inpspectors an oversized exhaust fan mounted in a manner to supplement the exhaust might provide some relief, wherein the fan operation is initiated upon opening the door.
