Thanks to all of you on the forum - you have been most helpful - in parting me with some of my cash - I am sure it will be worth it. Been wanting to get a smoker for a while. I have a couple of friends who do the BBQ. One guy does the best trout you ever want to eat, the other has the Bradley - he advised getting digital controls. My other friend is a competition BBQ out of AZ - he has all kinds of computer controlled fans set up with his and refers to the Bradleys as pellet poopers. I need as set i and forget it. A couple of weeks ago I stopped by Cabelas in Hamburg and noticed they had a bunch of smokers on sale and some in the Bargain Cave. Hadn't done a whole lot of research at the time so I took a pass. Then I got to this forum. My reservations about the Bradley were confirmed - I dont like the idea of a special smokin briquette from both a cost and "I need it now" perspective. So that got me thinking again. Seems I remembered seeing a black Smokette at Cabellas. My decision was now between a Smokette Elite and a Super Smoker. I had some errands to run that put me near Cabelas so I figured I would pop in for another looksee. I found the Smokette but sitting right next to it was an Amerique at great price. Looking at the Smokette and the Amerique, I knew I wanted the bells and whistles and the size sure would come in handy especially with trout season starting soon. So like they say in for a dime - in for a dollar. Thanks all and see you around.

Ok so maybe you can lend a little help. I started seasoning my smoker - everything seemed in order. I did not use a probe. After about 15 minutes on its way to 200 deg the smoker started to cycle for the next 5 minutes and brought the temp right up to 199 - 200 degrees. Nice little stream of smoke coming out the top with minor leaks at the top of the door. Everything seems fine. After about 2 hours the thing stars beeping constantly. I had set the time to 4 hours. Any ideas?
I upgraded from a Smokette to an AmeriQue a year ago.

The minor smoke leaks should self seal as the smoker is used.

Upon startup they run full on for the first 15-20 minutes then they will cycle off and on as heat is called for.

Mine has never beeped at me so I’m not sure what to make of that, I’d give Cookshack a call on that one.

Did it continue to hold the temperature?
