So today i recieved my new Amerique to replace my 55.. I wait for the man in brown to drop it off, finally @ 6:30 pm it shows up! I unpack, roll out to the patio and slide the 55 aside..

I clean, load the wood box, plug'er in and mhy display reads "SERVICE" next to the Start/Stop button. I set the temp, checked the plug, unplugged, turned off/on ect and i can't get the display to stop saying "Service". Any other Amerique users out there that may have seen this? Customer service was closed by the time UPS got here with it, so i couldn't call..

Anyone? This is my 3rd cookshack and i haven't had any issues so far with my Smokette or 55, and the wife wants ribs tomorrow for our anniversary Mad and the 55 is going to it's new home in the AM......

Well, being the impatient one that i am, i got it fixed. Took the screws out and removed the top/cover. Looked inside and noticed 2 wires (red/yellow) that were not hooked up. Not much room in there, had to modify a screw driver to fit, but i hooked up the disconnected wires and gave it a shot, all is well! The screws that held the wires in were not even tight (must have been a Friday afternoon assembly Big Grin ) Mistakes happen, i'm just happy to have fixed it..

So looks like we won't have to go to Famous Daves for dinner afterall...
Thanks! Not yet, was going to tonight.. The manual says to put 3 chunks of wood in @ 200 for 4 hrs to season, i did this last night and the wood barely burned, i used the wood that came with it. The inside is still shiny and new, the temp guage showed 198-201 ish the whole time, something not right?

Happy anniversary.

Sorry for the delay, the Ribs were great! Made 10 racks again this weekend, and people loved him. My last batch i had to run out, so i set the time, and came home, smoker was on 200 HOLD, can't get much easier than this!!

The other nice thing is, the racks are wide enough to hold the full rack or ribs, no need to cut before hand..
