New Controller is HERE!!!!!!!

Ok, It went together well. I have a slab in her right now trying her out. It was easy.

what kind of a controller are we talking about

I just received the new controller today, very impressive, the qestion is: Will the new controller work with a probe? The instructions refers to the probe like it is ready to go if you had the probe to push in. I saw somewhere or heard that the probe function was not programmed in to the board. There were issues with the probe and the new controller. Anybody know the true story?

You are correct. The probe function is not ready. I had originally ordered the new controller with a probe, but when I called they said it would be a while till the probe was ready so I ordered just the contoller. The installation was fairly simple. Cooked a slab of ribs right after installation. Will try and do a butt or brisket this weekend to give it a work out.

It's a digital IQ4 for the FE series, not for the other CS's. The Amerique and the 100/200/300 already have IQ3's.

i have a cs008 is there anything accessories wise that i should be looking to get , like a water bath ?

How close did the new controller hold your temperature setting during the ribs? I installed the new controller tonight and hope to cook something soon to try it out. The old controller I did not like, I have always use the CS50 or DH105, set the temperature and forget it.

It's a digital controller similar (almost exactly) to the 150, so you can try it and let us know. I won't be able to test mine until Jan and then I can let you know.

I have the FEC500, and have wanted the ability to set the temps in 5-10 degree increments. Can the new controller do this??

And what kind of a cost are you looking at for the new controllers??

I have two of the prototype IQ3 controllers and soon will be getting the new IQ4 controller to swap out mine. I have ordered a FEC 500 with the new controller also. I know that you will be able for sure to change temps by two degree increments. It is a great controller and you will turn out a super product with very little work. I bet you know my buddy down there, SteveO. He's got a FEC100 along with several other things..
Any comment on how much the new controller is. I wont neeed the probes with the FEC500.

The new controller was $405 for the FEC 100.

Although I didn't keep a close eye on the temp. swings while cooking it didn't appear to swing a much as it did with the old contoller. Ribs were good as well as the butt and brisket. Ithink it was a good decission to get the new controller.

FWIW I just ordered two new controllers, they are now OVER $700. And that's without the temp probe.
