If folks actually price it out,few would do it.

A rough and dirty would look at the actual cost of the truck and trailer.If you cook qualifiers think 1500 mile round trip.Think miss work to get the meats and products on Tues.
Miss work to travel Wed,Thur,at cookoff on Fri.
Motels for as many nights as needed,meals,drinks ,etc.
Fuel at $4/gal.
Entry fee $400?
Comp meats,rubs,sauces,supplies,fuel,etc $400?
Depreciation on a couple FECs ,maybe finish grill,tables,EZ up tent, cambros,coolers,knives/tools / $10,000-$12,000.
Extra cooksite space for trailer $150.
Travel home Sunday.
Miss work Mon to clean trailer,gear,etc.

If you skip all the mentioned stuff above,that you should figure in,maybe only $3,000.

But,that is cheap if you get a walk and can call everybody you know on the drive home. Wink Big Grin
