well, at least I've not seen this anywhere until I saw it on Good Eats---Alton Brown---on FoodTV. Seems like a great idea.

To keep food really hot he wraps bricks in foil and heats them in a 400 degree oven for 20-30 minutes. He lines his cooler with a heavy bath towel, doubled, to protect the plastic from the hot bricks. He then places the bricks on the bath towel and covers them with yet another towel, this one moist (moisture conducts heat better).

BBQ (or anything else) then goes on top of the moist towel, wrapped in foil or other suitable container (he used pyrex and aluminum baking dishes, because he wasn't dealing with BBQ).

If just putting Q in a cooler preheated with hot water keeps the food hot for hours, this system should keep Q hot all danged DAY.
