Not sure what "new" means. When was your AQ built, and what type of probe does it have? Two-pin twist lock or phono type plug?
2 pin twist lock. I assume it is a redesign from the previous one as it is less than half the price. I was curious considering the complaints about the previous one not holding up. I will be trying it out soon enough, then I can let everyone else in on my thoughts.
This is probe pv538 and it has a braided stainless sheath not plastic.
I will be very interested to hear your report on this probe. My AQ was made in 2013, and it has a twist lock probe with a plastic sheath which has melted where it touches the edge of the vent hole. I expect the probe to fail at any time. I'm amazed that the new probe with metal sheath is less that half the price of the old one. I wonder what changed?
I am far from being an expert because I have never actually had the opportunity to use the meat probe. I bought my unit used minus the probe and refused to buy an expensive one that many had complained about. Hopefully this probe will elevate my cookshack experience.
I have a 2007 AQ and had to replace my ioriginal probe with speaker connector several yrs ago due to weak point at probe and wire. Noew probe was supposed to correct that problem by using heat shrink at that weak point. Now new weak point is where shrink point and wire starts cuz that is where wire insulation separating from wire exposing bare wire.
