The local supermarket had these on sale before Christmas so I picked up a 4 pounder.I know its called a "New York cut" so I guess its New York steaks not cut ninto steaks. But it was a rib type roasts and at about $11 I thought it was worth a try. I planned on roasting it in the oven for Christmas dinner but that didn't work out so I Decided at the last minute to smoke it
I rubbed it with pepper only on all sides and put it in my little old cookshack with a couple chunks of hickory. Smoked it for 4 hours at 250.
Well it was a "cheep cut and not prime" but my wife thought it was prime rib. Was fantastic. Made an au jus from some beef broth and drippings( had to wing it)
Just had the last of the left overs for lunch.
