Good day all. As i'm new to this forum i thought the polite thing to do would be to say "hi".
i've been a Q nut forever and have been catering for 3 or 4 years now in the GWN (great white north). there's been a lot of talk lately around our dinner table about our future involving a restaurant so i am really pleased to find this forum. yes, the cookshack will likely be part of those restaurant plans so this site will be most helpful.
anyway, gonna carry on browsing the threads, i read the one on sides and brunswick stew last night ... great ideas.

Hi Peggy
I can't speak for all of Canada but here in Northern Ontario we have quite a few beef and dairy producers. They sure do like their beef! Pork is not nearly as popular. Last summer I had great luck with beef back ribs ... you know, the 5 lb, 7 rib racks. They cost me about $6.25CDN a rack and sure do help the bottom line. Because of the large French population we have locally, beans are the favourite side.
Whole hog or Mchoui as it is called here is a popular choice for family reunions and such.
Peter
