The first day I ran my new FEC100 I could only hear the ping of the pellets hitting the cup. Today was another story. Every once in a while I'd hear a crunching sound as if the auger was crushing pellets instead of moving them down the feeder tube. The cooker held temp and pellets continued to drop. Hopefully this is not a problem in the making. I cooked smoked Kaluah Pig today and whole chicken and ribs yesterday. Tomorrow brisket. I think it will go online next week.

Mine does that every so often and has not caused a problem. I just view it as a pellet that gets sideways or out of position and gets broken in the process of being moved along by the augur. Since the manufacturers are pretty good about knowing how soft or hard a pellet needs to be made, I would just go with the flow.

I gotta give it to you Tom. I never laugh out loud at posts, but you got me this time.

By the way, I tried that with my old home unit (five years old), and when I looked out the window smoke was rolling out of the hopper. This was not a burn back either. I have no idea what happened. I was in the process of letting all of the pellets clear the auger to shut it down and put on the cover. Guess I'll call Eddy tomorrow or Monday. Keep in mind, this is a five year old, pre-Cookshack model.
