Hey guys,

I was going to do an overnight butt for the family on the smokette (sm025), but when I tried to power on the smoker, no signal at all.  Tried a few different outlets.  Cracked open the top so see if there was some kind of reset switch, but nothing...measured power to the terminals on the top underneath the control panel, but not sure what else to do.

Has this happened to anyone else?  Any ideas...going to have to prep the egg instead for one of my weekend cooks, but still would like to do the butt in the cook shack if I can get it running...

Thx,

Bud

anyone versed in the volt/ohm meter?  circuit powered on...for everything, red cord in the V, not the mA or 10A port..test resistance for capacitors/circuit powered on?  I remember continuity, but not sure what setting that is...

"Continuity" is the "ohms" setting. Should read zero if there is continuity of the circuit (no broken connections or wires). Do this with power OFF.

thx a bunch...setting up the egg for another cook, but will round back to the cook shack in a bit...I know I have power to all the inputs on the board and can't see any burnt areas...

My SM045 had the same issue. My son worked with CS folks to troubleshoot (hard for me to do at the office) and it turned out to be the controller assembly.   Part sent via two-day shipping, 2 minutes to install and good as new.

Thanks for the input, HockeyJohn...I'm sure that's the issue, given that I have power to the board itself. I went ahead and ordered another controller.

Just in case others search and find this answer -- dampness in the controller housing can cause it to malfunction / not turn on.  I took off the cover, used a hairdryer for a while, and that fixed it.  This can be one cause.
