I've read about a change made to the fire pot. Did it change from iron to stainless? Does it really make a difference -- should I request one or the other? Thanks all.

Smokin E as long as your oven is running fine I would leave it alone. We have seen a few customers that have their oven set up to where they have some flue issues that will cause burnout problems but most run fine.
I bought an FEC100 which was built just prior to the change back to the stainless pot. I contacted Cookshack and they're sending me the stainless pot just in case I have issues with the cast pot.
They sent me the stainless pot because they've discontinued the cast ones for now. I have had no difficulties so far. The machine works fantastic. Can't comment on if there is a difference as I only have the SS pot. There is someone getting a replacement on this forum. Perhaps they can answer. I'd go with the SS pot through Cookshack or If you're going through a distributor, have Cookshack send a replacement SS pot just in case.

Think you'll be happy with the product, but if you ever have a problem just connect CS and they will be happy to work with one on one customer service, yeah it's top notch.
