I typically use about 8lbs. of pellets per cook. Then there is the disclaimer...the above comment is not necessarily the opinion of the author, whom may be an idiot and/or incorrect. Actual pellet usage will vary due to ambient temperature and humidity conditions, type, temperature and quantity of food items cooked, and actual btu content of pellets used. Other factors that may also effect pellet usage include, but are limited to, type of beverages consumed during cook, acts of nature, how many times you open the door to 'check' on things, and your significant other's personality type.

All that being said...I'd buy two bags of pellets to have around. Your cooker will come with pellets to get your rig seasoned and through the first cook. At 225, plan on using just shy of .5lbs/hour an average.
