Just figures. The one winter storm happens this weekend and Charlotte is shut down due to not enough equipment to clear the roads.

My FE100 is sitting at the terminal and was to be delivered today. Now it might be tomorrow or Wednesday while I am out of town. Won't get to use the new baby until Thursday now......

The EXACT same thing happened to me. No appreciable snow in PDX for 10 years. I order the FE100--delivery date set for Dec 26 or the next business day, and we get a whiteout. Finally got it at the end of the first week of January. It spent the rest of the time on somebody's dock. Patience. It's worth the wait.
evets...take some of those pellets and do a make believe bbq! Or use them to burn your driveway clean! I think you are still getting the weather today and tonight. We have had a rest form the freezing rain for almost all day but looking at the NexRad it looks like it is overhead right now! Arrrrg! No prob I'm closed anyway but I do need to get to Sam's Club for meat before Thurs!

Hang in there...mother nature will give us all a break very soon! Won't she?

It just arrived. Man this thing is built like a tank. That new gasket on the door looks like it really snugs up the door. The top latch takes some pressure to get it closed, which should be a good thing.

need to do a little work and then going to fire it up for an hour or two to season it.

Butt and ribs tomorrow.......
KDM...
Well I mean a new new thing! I think they had stopped production for about 1 or 2 weeks. That is why evets had to wait, I think. At that time they came out with the gasket. According to Eddy it sounds easy to install. I think he said it was an el gasket and there is a strip of metal screwed through it to hold it. Call CS and let us know.

I used to have a CS 150 and it leaked but that stopped when it warmed up. Perhaps yours might too after a break in period. If it were indoors that could be a problem. The CS150 had an optional hood that really worked out nice. It had like a brow that extended past the door so it could catch the smoke when you opened the door, slowly. It also caught the exhaust but it comes out the top.

Appreciate the feedback and excellent comments. That's why the forum is here to give good feedback.

You have to also remember that this whole FE/CS is a new system.

If you're wanting to know about retrofits or whatever, the forum is okay, but CS generally doesn't monitor the forum for that purpose, it's kind of a self-perpetuating thing. FE is around and looking at the posts. If he sees this, he'll respond. Although Donna and Stuart are in here, they're the only ones. If they see the post (they may not, just because there are some many out there), they'll respond, but it's getting to be trade show season and they might miss your response to an old thread.

They prefer to have such issues called to them so they can give you an immeidate response and help you one-on-one.

By the way, for those of you who don't know me. I don't work for CS, I do this moderator stuff for fun.

Hope that helps.
If I have a concern regarding the FE100, I'd certainly contact Cookshack directly.

The nice feature of this forum is that people can bring updated information to those who have older models. It would be nice if Cookshack would post the improvements that are made for those who own older models, though I understand this may not always be possible. But I, for one, appreciate these items brought forward, regardless who they come from.
Sorry I haven't been around but I drove 2700 miles seen 2 customers and cooked a contest in Lakeland FL. Just got home late last night and still haven't answered much email and came over here to see whats goin on. Lets talk gaskets, I'm not too fond of them because it is a wear item that will need changing once in a while. These units do not need to be airtight unless you have it in an indoor instalation. The worse thing if the door leaks a little is you see a dark area at the top of the door. We are getting more units sold for indoor use and this is why CS has decided to put them on. I don't know for sure if a retro fit to the older units will work for sure. You'll have to call CS. Digital controls have been around for a while but they were not very good. The programming they use to have was not allowing the units to smoke very well and they caused to high of temps at certain settings. It has just become very recent the change in them, and scuttle butt is there maybe a mfg. change also. These controls come from traeger.
