Probe wire shield tearing at probe

My temperature probe for my FEC-100 has formed a tear where the wire meets the probe. It is at a point now where I can see the wire under the protective sheathing.

I have always washed it carefully by hand, and have never been rough with the probe.

It's probably been used in 20 sessions and at $200 a pop, it'a VERY expensive accessory if I have to buy a new one.

Has anyone else run into this problem?

give CS a call. Alternately you could also seal around the tear with hi-temp silicone to seal out moisture and then cover with hi-temp shrink tubing.
