We want to rent out our big towable, Kingfisher Kountry Kooker this season. It's in good shape and has been updated.

It's an offset stickburner with 6- 10" X 44" rotating racks. A half hog (with it's hocks and shanks off) will fit on each rack; or 2- full size steam pans per rack.

We no longer use it and I thought we could generate some pork sales too.

I'm thinking in the $50-$75 range for the weekend, plus $50 clean-up deposit.

These La Caja China hog roasters ( www.lacajachina.com )seem to be gaining popularity in our area. I might get one to rent out too. Maybe $50 for it.

What do you think?

Thanks! Roger

I am thinking, this might be a good ides. I wouldn't do a clean up deposit, just because most people that are renting your kooker aren't going to care for it the way you would. Then you have to be a bad guy. I'd add whatever you think it would cost to clean it afterwards into the rental. Put into your contract that you want it returned in a clean condition, and maybe take pictures before and after the rental.
I'm new to all of this, so take this advice as about worthless,
Peggy
Roger, We have recently acquired a holstein hog cooker/grill. We rent it for $100 a weekend. Renter pays to refill the two propane tanks, brings it back clean or is charged a $25 clean up fee. We contacted a local rental center, got a copy of their rental contract and are in the process of making up our own rental contract. Hopefully we will get all the Ts crossed and Is dotted. We also charge a $200 reserve at the time of contracting to rent. This is returned when the unit comes back clean and tanks full. Should there be any repairs required the cost is to be deducted from the deposit. We also have a local gent who will take care of acquiring and cooking the hog for a fee which is negotiated seperate from us. Hope this helps in your venture. Just having the cooker available has generated a lot of interest some of which have lead to catering contracts. Keep smokin.
1hawsfli, That's some good info.

Do you advertise it to rent?

I went down to Holstein, IA and almost bought his huge Maxi BBQ smoker before we bought our FE750. He's a hog and crop farmer like me, and he and his 8 hired men build everything in the farm shop. I have his 24 X 72 gas grill that holds 65 steaks or chops. The local feed store rents it from me for their annual customer appreciation supper.
