Shear pin | Cookshack

I just pulled my auger assembley apart and see the shear pin is hanging out one end of the auger, drive connection.

The end with the cotter clip is still intact, but the other end seems mauled.

I took it apart, drilled out the auger (since the pin had deformed the metal when it came out and kept spinning) and put it back in. its long enough to go all the way through, but nothing to hold the other side in.

I put it in flush to the cotter pin, and siliconed the other side to get me cooking.

My question is what does the other end of the pin look like from the factory, is it flaired to hold it in, is there supposed to be another cotter pin on that side as well?

I cant find the broken end in the housing so its really got me wondering

Call CS and ask, they've had several different variations in use over the years.

FYI .. we have extra pins taped to the inside of the elec box so we have the parts when and where needed.

Good tip about taping the spare parts.

It is truly rare to need one,but it seems to always be at night.

Ours have always been in our cook kit.

got in touch with bill today from cs. He is sending me out a pin and a new fire pot to replace the cast one.
