If in doubt get the Model 50. I have a smokette and am very happy with it...At first it fit my needs but as people tasted the final product the demand from friends and family have grown where at times the smokette is to small. I am now considering getting a model 55.

There have also been a number of others on the forum who have started with the smokette and upgraded to the larger model.

Take the plung, you wont be sorry Big Grin
I have both a smokette and a 55 they both cook the same just one has more space. I don't regret buying the smokette it travels well when I go camping. I was and still real happy I bought the 55. One thing is more cooking space and now I can hang my ribs instead having to fold them every thing just fit better. If I had to do it over again I would buy the 55 over the smokette after hin site.
I am also an owner of both a smokette and a model 50. I have been very happy with both.

But, if I had it to do over, I would just buy a model 50. It is great for that occasional gathering that the smokette cannot handle. And the more you cook with the cookshack, the more of these gatherings you will have. Everyone will want to come eat your BBQ! (The events are getting large enough now that I have to use both smokers to feed the crowd.)

Plus, I really like the way that ribs cook in the model 50 by hanging rather than laying on racks. I have had much better quality ribs out of the larger cooker.
