temps in the 08

I was thinking about getting the cs-08 smoker, but, I read that it only has a 500 watt element, my question is, what is the highest temp that this smoker will go?. I have an old char-brol that has a 1500 watt element and on high setting it will only get to 250 deg. I have very rarely used it on this setting,but just curious.

I believe the 08 maximum temp setting is 250F. The reason the 08 can get to 250F with a 500 watt element versus a 1500 watt element is insulation. I'm not sure exactly what char-broil model you had, but the ones I've seen are not insulated. In addition, the CS seals up pretty tight so wind and ambient outdoors temperature will not affect it's ability to reach the set temp.
