I noticed the gaskets are burnt in two in two different places on the door of my FE. One is on the right side of the door and the other is midway across the bottom. Unit is in use about 3 X's a week.
Anybody else having this problem?
Also, last week when it was 108 outside, I fired the FE up and after running about 15 minutes, it shut its self down. Could it be it overheated the circuits? I could smell a scent of hot wiring, but when I pulled the plate, everything looked OK. It was in the shade with good airflow around it. It restarted & ran fine since.
Any ideas?

Ron,

You know that all three of my cookers are pre-Cookshack, but I've never had either of the issues you mention happen. I think I'd definitely talk with customer service. There shouldn't be any outside temp that effects the wiring or circuits on one of these units. Sounds more like a damaged wire or something.

I don't think the heat affects the unit. I've used mine all night and day when the temp got to 114 in 29 Palms, CA - worked fine. Could be your electricity supply - sometimes when it gets hot, the power around here does little brownouts because of all the air conditioners being used.

I'd like to give a testament to the reliability of these units. I was using two of them yesterday to cater a wedding - in the desert in August, and then there's a thunderstorm and pouring rain. I put trash bags over the side hopper parts and they kept running fine, times were the same as always. It was 105 before the rain, cooled off a little after. It was an outdoor wedding and they never thought about calling it off - it stopped raining about 2 hours before the ceremony and everything went fine. All the guests even showed up.
