Top vent on commercial cookshack

Vintage 1993 model 105,

Can the exhaust port be extended to direct the exhaust further away from smoker?

Smoker is semi rough, needs exterior fixing, interior in excellent condition, control panel is toast, but a just ordered PID by Auber will cure that!

I rescued a 008 that was about in the same shape. Scarfed some aluminum angle on side. Used sheet metal screws where original side was still solid. Used high temp silicone gasket maker to seal side and bottom. Seems to work well.
