I am about to buy the FEC100 for a catering business I just started. I wanted to ask if the 63" height of the smoker fits in most enclosed trailers? I am looking at a 6x8 or 6x10 enclosed trailer to haul the smoker and extra catering gear.
Does anyone have experience laying the FEC100 on its back of it's too high standing up?

Thanks.

I have hauled mine on it's back several times. But you will have to have help to pick it back up. They list the unit at 400lbs,and after lifting it a few times I would agree.

I would buy a trailer tall enough to get it in. If you go with one that is short, then you will have a hard time just getting yourself in and out of the trailer. All you have to do is hit your head one time. Spending an extra thousand dollars will save in labor of lowering and lifitng the uit at your events. And maybe save a workmans comp claim for a back injury.

I have had several enclosed trailers over the years hauling racing carts, and race cars. A little larger trailer will make it easier to resell.

The beastie is TOP heavy. You will need help in lifting it. If it starts to fall, let it! Empty the pellet hopper prior and remove the shelves, grease pan, and grease slide (reduces weight). Never ever move it with the door open or unlatched. If moving on an inclined surface, always have the pellet hopper up hill. An example is a trailer ramp.

I have finally conceded my age and always ask for help in loading and unloading.

All of the above is from first hand knowledge and my unit and my arms & hands have the scars to prove it. Also did I mention the unit is TOP heavy!

You can find single axle 6x10 trailers that it will fit in, but many have shorter doors. Like others said, you can lay it over, but you won't want to have that be the norm. Also, strap the door when you put it in the trailer. The latches will pop open when the trailer bounces around and you don't want to damage the door.
