Has anyone ever used pellets that have been wet? My son dumped a 40 lb. bag into the hopper. I noticed a lot of sawdust piling up on the ramps and the temps were not steady or keeping up with the pit. I opened the hopper and saw a lot of sawdust in there along with the pellets. A lot of the pellets were still intact but they broke up into dust easily.
I had my son vaccuum out the hopper and clean out the augers and vaccuum the firebox. I'm going to put in a fresh bag of pellets this morning.
What is your experience on this?

IF they get wet, throw them out, they'll swell up and be unusable.

As for dust, I usually, when I pour in a bag, never throw in the full bag because the dust usually settles to the bottom. In transit, you'll get a lot of breakage and then the dust seems to be worse. Some brands are real bad.

I try not to let the dust accumulate, I've heard people saying it clogs. I find it good to empty out the whole pellet hopper and vacuum occassionally.

A little preventive maintenance goes a long way.
