Stopped in one of the local Super Walmarts Sunday, and they had packers labeled Black Angus. When I turned the pack over, it was stamped USDA Choice, so I bought three at $1.27 lb. Went back today and got six more at the same price. Sam's and the other Super Walmart were selling them for $1.40 lb.

All nine were in the 11.5-14.5 lb range. It's the first time in a while that I have been able to find choice packers that weren't in the 17-21 lb range. Hopefully the choice plus weight means younger, smaller steers and more tender meat. I'll find out when they go in the FE.

With the cost of gas and having to relearn a job I haven't worked in for 30 plus years (my old one moved to Ellsworth AFB SD), I'm going to be to be very limited on my comps this year. Maybe these will see me through the summer.

Sounds great. I'd take them in and put some away in a freezer at that price. The gas thing in really hitting a lot of teams. I wouldn't be going to Pine Bluff in a couple of weeks if it wasn't a huge payout.

I'll be doing all the locals ones just for that reason, even though some of them don't pay well.
