trying find a suppler of pellets in or close to new hampshire? just opening a bbq place in Milford nh and the cost of shipping cookshack pellets is $550 per ton. ( by the way cookshack tells me it's $550 per ton even if you order more then one ton and have them delivered all at once!?? so two tons on the same truck, to the same place is $1100?) anyway does anyone have a source here in the NE?

I schlepp em out to Vermont via UPS, 60 lbs at @ time. Cost is about $1.20/# I just don't have the room to store a pallet. This year I probably went through about 500 lbs of Mesquite pelz.

MMB if you decide to buy a ton, let me know. I'd buy 20-25 bags. If you find a CS/FE distributer in NH, I'd be interested in knowing. My only source in these neck of the woods are Traeger pellets, which I don't like or use.
You might find some buddies and order 1000# to 2000# at a time. That is the only thing we have found to save on the shipping. One of the down sides is that they have to be delivered to a place that has a fork lift to unload. Then, you can distribute from the pallet.
Shipping is a killer!
Smokin,

I think you may have misread. the charge for 10lbs is 16.99 shipping Included. The value is the 40 lb bag for $41.99 which included shipping. Read his notice on the same page as well:

quote:
The "Buy Now" price is offered to our Valued Customers who live farthest away from us. Shipping to the West Coast, the North East, or portions of southern Florida and Texas make the cost prohibitive. So until we get Distributors closer to your area we will absorb some of the shipping costs on certain orders. Simply process your order until the shipping is added to your order. If the total is LESS than the "Buy Now" price, just continue with your order and pay the lesser amount. If the "Buy Now" price turns out to be less, come back to this page and process your order at the "Buy Now" price.

Hope this helps.
David,

Your are correct. I quoted the 20 lbs which included shipping.

But the point is still valid. Shipping pellets is expensive.

Best thing to do is post on forums, find some friends and buy a pellet. You can stack a lot of pellets in your garage.

Also, when you buy from anyone ask them what the "blend" is. The reference site is 50/50 meaning 50% hickory 50% oak. CS, Candy Sue and a few others the blend is more 65 flavor and 35 oak.

You need OAK for BTU's.

There are also some 100% flavor, but their BTU's will be lower. Not a bad thing, just something to know.
