New to the forum, lots of great info! I am currently using an older CS wood burning smoker for Ribs, etc. What would be best to smoke a roaster hog, pellet or wood, which unit, a bit confused here! Thanks to all!
When I got my FEC100 I gave up on the whole hog deal and started have the hog cut up into 10-12 lb rolled roasts and have been so much more happy as they cook more even and no bones to deal with. You also don't have to deal with lifting the whole hog in and out of the smoker and lots easier to slice. Everything about it is better.
Candysue built a diagonal ramp and use a smaller pig. It was an experiment to show she could do it.It was a mess to handle and clean up and not something she anticipated repeating.
