Amerique in the rain

I use a clear plastic storage bin/tote and sit it upside down over the controls. It enables me to read the display and 100% protects against water.

Over the 2 vent holes, I use a 2X6 long enough to well cover both holes and prop it up with a couple of 1X2's. Not the prettiest, but very effective.

Between the two, it can rain or snow all it wants.

I smoke under a patio umbrella.

I use a patio umbrella also, but increase the protection by placing some clear wrap over the electronic board area and thermometer probe with the bottom below the probe open to air. Then use a few pieces of Scotch tape to keep it intact. The last time I protected the electronics was in a sudden storm a few weeks ago. The electronics were dry and safe - I was drenched clear to my underwear and socks.

Key is to keep stuff from dripping down into the electronics, so just try to keep the rain off as much as possible, but plenty of them sit outside. Matt's solution sounds like it would work.

I put one of those sand stakes in the ground and stuck a patio umbrella over it all summer (too sunny, too hot to touch the stainless)

I keep my smoker in the garage and I smoke in my garage. Just open the front window and if needed turn on my exhaust fan in the rear window. works great.

I build a simple wood shack out of plywood. It has 3 sides and is open in the front. It has a tilted roof so the smoke goes up and out of it. Painted it and Voila. A $25 investment and took me about an hour to put together and paint. Now my 008 is dry and protected in wind and rain and snow.

German you have a pic I may want to build one too. Curious on the dimensions etc...
