AQ heat spike

When smoking a couple of butts last weekend my AQ temp would spike from my set temp of 235 to as much as 255 after opening door to replenish wood. After maybe 30 minutes or so it would seem to setle back down, is this normal behavior?

Did anyone else notice he was adding more wood to Amerique while smoking?? Never found it necessary to do so with my Amerique, even on those longer butts or brisket cooks. I just load it with desired amount when starting and let it go. I thought I once remembered hearing somewhere in this Forum to "KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED"... (Sorry for the long post on this topic). LOL
