I also am thinking of starting a Barbeque business.I am going to try something different though.I have only a driveup window-no seating and will be selling that way.Mostly just sandwiches of different meats. My rent will be very low and not much overhead.Think it will work? Any comments are appreciated.... Wink

Ronny,
It would most likely work if (the old if)
you are near a business center with large concentrations of people where you can catch the lunch crowd, or the going home 8 to 5 ers... this way you can set your hours from say 10 to 2 and from 4 to 8 then let the customer base tell you about weekends or not? I know of several food business that have nothing more than a drive through, but you will need to do some creative marketing, such as court some of the executive business people with some flyers and such.
ronny, i like the idea! anything will work if you approach it the right way. you just have to convince people its what they want.
most of my customers are take out, so i can see where the drive through would make them feel they can get good bbq even faster! lots of planning on your part. post any more questions and we will all put it our nickel (inflation). now ya done it! i will probably be up all nite, figuring all the possibilities.........
thats kinda our angle. we have a low overhead and low operating cost, so we can afford to run a much higher food cost and still have a beter bottom line than most of the big boys. my experience in the corporate world reveals that most look for a 15-20 percent profit on the bottom line. our little place yeilds 40-50 percent bottom line profit! makes it all worth while. also, good info for ya.... most television folks love bbq. get in touch with your local station and work out a deal to trade food for advertising. this is a great way to advertise and stretch your ad dollars. we have been running a t.v. commercial for 6 months now. we trade air time for a monthly sales meeting catering job. thats the only way a little mom and pop place can get on the air without spending thousands of dollars. and dont forget to quote them your highest price for catering cause they dont care since they are going to trade it anyway......
