I have decided to enter 4 or 5 sanctioned events this year and was wondering if anybody had a certain brand of deep cycle battery they would recommend. Hope to see some of you this year.

They usually only have one brand at Sams Club of the marine deep cycle batteries and that is what I got with.
Brand isn't as important as the Marine Deep Cycle "style"

I'd LOVE to go to some far comps, but with prices for gas being so bad, it would be 2,3,400 dollars just in gas.
Well Russ, it was three tanks of gas in a "Yank-Tank" for me to go from Dallas to Stillwater, what's a few bucks. It was only $99.00 for me to fill up each time or was that the max that the credit card machine would allow? Great contest, great fun, great cooks and will do it again.
