peggy got us entered in a wing competition for a united way fund raiser which tied into the superbowl. fee was steep but we were shown as a "vendor sponsor" and all profits were split 50/50 after the 250 sponsor fee.
i thought she was nuts!!! but she is the president of her chapter s corp and i just cook.
the upshot of all this is during this event we were approached to do a 3 day event where there will be only 2 food sellers and they are sending us a contract to review. the other seller is going to be seafood.
my point is while i thought so what?? peg recognized a way to get our name in the forefront and i guess thats why i cook and work for her Big Grin

Our first vending event will be a charity fund-raiser as well. My best friend's wife is organizing a Women's Resource Fair (third year). They are expecing 2000 to attend. Two other food vendors will be mexican and healthy sandwich wraps.

We are doing it to raise funds for a local horse stable that teaches challenged kids how to care for and ride horses. They do amazing work and do it for love of kids.

Even if we don't get any referral business, I am glad we are able to help them. We donated their exhibitor booth and will donate $1 per sandwich that we sell. Employees are all family/friends, which I think will donate their pay as well. If it goes as planned, they should get about $1000 after it is all over.

Work hard, feel good about it, knowing you are helping someone who needs it. could not ask for more.
Jack, Thanks for sharing. I've found charity events a good lead for business too and typically split the profits 50:50, but haven't had to pay a sponser fee yet. For me 50:50 means they get 25% of the sales.

How do you typically decide on what % of sales a 50:50 profits split is?
