Ok here's a tip and a question posed to all the Q mass. First never never never clean the grills in the wifes garden/whirlpool tub. I did that this morning in prep for my ribtastic dinner tonite. It doesn't matter if you clean it up and even make it shine a litter more than it did before, you will end up in the doghouse. I know this "first hand".

Now on to the question and a little info on why i did what i did. I live in Oklahoma, were having some slight freezes. So ive wrapped all the outside faucets up. No bust pipes for me this winter. So how in the heck are yea supposed to get the darn grills clean. Im no dummie but during the weee hours this morning i could think of nothing to help. I have a 2400Sq foot shop building but as yet have no water hooked up in it. And im not sure if ill survive another tub washing Roll Eyes . Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

P.S. The tub washing was only to soak and remove the majority, the finish clean happened in the sink per usual.

Thanks,

kamots,
this has worked for me on griddles.
and it sure has worked for me on cleaning my fec after 20 hours of smoking.
go to your local grocery.
buy new scotch brite scrubbies.
go to juice section (not frozen)
buy the cheapest lemon juice you can get.
in a pan add lemmon juice and your scrubbie
and guess what???
start scrubbin'
wont take anytime
in 20 mins you can do 4 grills
and the nice part is there are no chemicals
so if you dont get all the lemon juice off you still wont hurt anyone
and that's the way i clean my fec grills and to date i havent lost any chrome
hope this helps

Each method, keep them clean as you go, or just clean them every few times.

For me: Put them in a concrete mix pan, because mine won't fit in the dishwasher, just any pan to lay the grills down fully immersed in water. Soak for a few hours. I add a little simple green or greased lightning. After that, it's just a simple rinse off, gunk just drops off.

Take to the car wash works well also.
