clogged cast iron side burner

hey d, i had the same problem a few months back. i tried soaking the burner in dawn dish soap overnight. that helped, but mine was real bad. so i ended up taking the burner apart and changing the screen inside it......

not sure if this will help or not, but when I have had to deal with stopped up burners... I went to a welding shop and bought a torch drill set, this consists of numerous precise size drill bits that clamp into the handle, then you just clean as needed?

Don't you hate it when that happens? My solution in the past has been to remove the burner and soak it in a product called Oil Eater. It's available at Costco & it's amazing stuff (biodegradeable, FDA approved, etc.) I don't know how close you are to Nashua but they show a costco warehouse there. I'm sure Sam's has a similar product too. I do my cast iron burners two or three times a year using enough Oil Eater full strength to cover the burner and soak over night. In the winter I put the burners in an automotive parts cleaning pan (or you could use a disposable #4) and put them in the oven with just the pilot on. It's preventative maintenance but it works for me!

I am going to try that Oil Eater. I tried the vinegar and it worked a little but not enough. Cna't take it apart and I don't want to drill.

Mr. Maclaren, sounds like an O.D. to me! A torch should burn off any fat blocking burner, if soaking in solvent doesn't work.
