Hi again,

I use my smoker outside on the patio. This isn't a big problem until it gets cold and windy outside. Boy does it get cold and windy-especially windy in Oklahoma. I devised an insulated cover for my smoker to keep the wind and cold off my smoker in the Winter. It seems to really help keep a constant temp and decrease smoking time in the Winter months. I took a big wardrobe box (we just moved from MI to OKC and had a lot of them laying around), some 3/4 inch foam panels and Liquid Nails from Lowes and pretty much made an insulated cover for my smoker.

I know that these smokers are insulated already but I do notice the difference when I use it. You make want to check with Stuart to see if this is a harmful to your Smokette.

This was really easy to make. I cut the flaps off the bottom of the box and cut some vents near the bottom for airflow. I also made a small opening on the top of the box so smoke and steam could escape. This is also a great place to sit your digtal thermometer.

Let me know if you want more details. I'll email you pictures if you want.

Looks like you've probably found another difference between the Cs and the Smokin'Tex products. I see your using a Smokin' Tex. I would bet that they didn't use the good insulation like the CS does Big Grin

sure, send photos. Email them to me and I'll let you know the URL and you can add it to your post.

I for one haven't had any problems using my CS outside. Zero. The insulation is pretty hefty (I don't rememeber if it's 800 or 1000 degree) so that keeps the outside temps out. The only effect I know of would be the electrical circuit?

Thanks

Smokin'
