I just received my AmeriQue last night in the dark from UPS(friday night) opened the box in the morning and there was a dent in the front door and the left front top was crushed. I've been really looking forward to getting started, had to put the pork butts I bought in the freezer. Of course the cookshack people are not there on Sat. so I'll have to wait till Mon to talk to anybody. I wish there was a more reliable way to ship these units. I'll let you all know how it turns out. Mike

Malibumike,

Not unusual, mine was sent vis UPS and part of the box was even missing and it was damaged in five places, one a hole from a hook. Cookshack, with their wonderful customer service sent out a second one which arrived in five day. It had so much damage that UPS returned it to Cookshack from their last distribution station before delivery. The UPS delivery man told me I didn't even want to look at the second AmeriQue as it was in worse shape than the first one.

Finally Cookshack sent a third AmeriQue by FedEx Freight and it arrived in perfect condition. Big Grin It says something about UPS and anything that weighs more than 50 LB.Confused

smokemullet
The ups guy tried to hand my 009 to my wife (she weighs barely more than the smoker), she told him he could set it down, so he droped it from about his knees to the floor. It hit so hard, the 5lb box of wood siting on the bottom grate, along with the grate, tore through the side rack and came to rest on the wood box.
Luckily, I just straightened it out and everything worked. I feel for those folks waiting and are excited to use their new smoker only to be "surprised" like that. My condolences..
Hi Malibumike,

Sorry to hear that your AmeriQue got damaged, give Karen or Tony a call Monday morning at (800) 423-0698 and they will get it taken care of.

We have actually had a little better luck of late with UPS and shipping the AmeriQue, the first few months were pretty tough.

We are contining to look for some better packaging options to try and get the frieght damage donwn to none. I know it is hard to get something in and then to find it damaged.
