Needing to start my 2nd cook on new FEC 100. Display flashes: FE60. Then runs thru Set Cook Temp, Set Time, etc. I am not able to set any of them. Any help would be great. Thanks
Is your FEC in an area affected by outdoors temps? The pad push buttons can be sluggish to fully depress when cold. Try pressing down a bit harder and longer till each registers its function, then press start.
I'm still of the opinion that the issue is related to the cold temps. Can you roll the unit into a warmer location, at least to get it started?
The other thought is to wet a a terry hand towel and get it hot as possible. Release any excess water and lay it over the touch pads for a couple of minutes. You really need to push HARD on those touch pads when they're cold.
Bigdawg's hair dryer idea is probably a bit more prudent than my thought of bringing water close to an electrical source. Was on my 1st sip of coffee when the idea struck
Just thought I might try to help someone else out.
I talked with Eddy last week and discribed the problems I was having starting the FEC100 in cold weather. He said to power on the smoker and let it run thru it's start up sequence and it might take 5 min. or so in cold weather (18* at the time). I tried at 5 min. and it would not let me enter time or temp. Let it go probably 10 min. and was able to enter the time, temp., hold, etc. without problem. Thanks
